Description

Ofloxacin is used to treat infections of the upper respiratory tract, skin, soft tissues, osteomyelitis, infectious diseases of the abdominal organs, kidneys and urinary tract, prostatitis, gynaecological infectious diseases, gonorrhoea.

As well as other fluoroquinolones, Ofloxacin is pluripotent.

It affects primarily gram-negative bacteria. It has bactericidal effect.

There is evidence for Ofloxacin's effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis and feasibility of its use in tuberculosis comprehensive treatment.

The drug is practically not metabolized — 75–90 % is excreted in urine; even after a single dose, the drug is found in urine within 20–24 hours.
